Meghan founded the Island Skating Academy to bring high quality instruction to beginners and advanced ice skaters of all ages. Those who learn from her can expect to excel in whatever discipline of skating they take part in, be it learn to skate, figure skating, hockey or recreational skating. She offers lessons on Aquidneck Island, Southern Rhode Island and throughout RI and some areas of MA.
Meghan has been skating since she was a child, and coaching for 20 years. Professionally she toured with Disney On Ice in “Toy Story 2”, was featured in the Ice Capades and Stars on Ice. She also performed in the opening ceremony of U.S. Figure Skating Nationals. Her synchronized skating team was featured as “Team Cheerios” Team of the Year; they became national and international champions. She continues to perform with The American Ice Theater in shows around the US.
To stay active in her coaching Meghan studies with the Professional Skaters Association. She is a Level I Ranked coach, Master Rated in Sports Science and Medicine, Senior Rated Program Director, and Senior Rated in Moves. She received her Master Choreography Technique Certificate with the American Ice Theater.
Meghan holds a bachelor’s degree in Health Education with a focus on Physical Education and a masters in Clinical Mental Health and Rehabilitation Counseling. She has a fitness training certification through the International Sports Science Association, a barre certification through Core Barre, and a nutrition certification in plant based nutrition from Cornell University.
Meghan works well with beginner and advanced students. She helps beginners learn to skate in a safe and calm environment, while she challenges advanced students and competitive athletes to reach their full potential.
